Implementing 3D in a 2D engine
Videogames
Made in 2008, this shooting game used a 2D engine called Gemix Studio, heir to DIV Games Studio.
As a 2D engine, its graphics were based on sprites, but we were able to create the illusion of 3D rendering using models that were rendered in memory and were shown as sprites.
Also a smart use of scrolling layers and sprite scaling created the feeling of exciting camera movements and rotations in three-dimensional space.
